Which forms of identification can be used when having a document notarized in Michigan?
Pursuant to Michigan Notary Public Act 238 of 2003, MCL 55.285, Section 25 (6)(c) "Identified on the basis of a current license, identification card, or record issued by a federal or state government that contains the individual's photograph and signature."
This means a VALID (non-expired): State issued driver's license, State issued ID card, Passport, U.S. Military ID, or Federal Native American tribe ID. A US Passport card is not a valid form of ID as there is no signature present on the card.
